Society Governance

The Society is governed by a constitution which sets out the objectives, details of membership, members’ rights and duties, and the rules for the on-going management and operation of the Society.

The Society is operated by a Board of Directors, directed by a cross-sectoral Council of Members and managed by an Executive Officer.

Council

Council discusses and decides on the strategic direction for the Society along with guiding its operational activities. There are approximately fifteen elected Council Members which normally meet every 6 weeks from September to June.

Much of the detailed technical work of the Society is undertaken by Sub-Committees appointed by Council and given specific functional responsibility.

Election of Directors and Council members takes place annually at the AGM.

Support

The Irish Concrete Society is a not for profit learned society. Financial support is derived from membership fees and the holding of events.

Our members also provide personnel to serve on Council and the various Society sub-committees.

Independent and Impartial

The Society is not involved with the trade or commercial aspects of the concrete industry and does not seek to represent its members views on these areas.  There are a number of existing trade organisations which currently serve this purpose.
